It's time to get a new set of rubber for the wagon. My…er…enjoyable driving style and aggressive (factory) camber settings have chewed through my Maxxis MA-V1s in a little over a year.

The plan is to get new tires and an alignment, asking them to align it closer to flat, even though that's not factory.

But I'm not sure where to start. I got the Maxxis because they were well-reviewed and we have them at work. I could get another set and hope they last longer with the new camber settings. But I don't want to buy from work again, because we're just a warehouse and I can't get road hazard (which I need- I've fixed 5 or 6 punctures on this set). I am, therefore, open to many options.

You lads and lassies have any all-seasons that you really like and I could get for less than $100 each in 205/55/16?

They're just for daily driving and the occasional, noncompetitive rallycross.

I run these on the Quattro and I'm pretty happy with them: Hankook Ventus V2 Concept H437

They're definitely in your budget and have good traction in wet and try, which predictable traction loss characteristics. A little prone to overheating during extended sessions of serious aggressive driving up and down some of the mountains around here. But for the money? They're awesome.

However, now that I've driven them in the snow (see my post from earlier), they're fine with acceleration and driving traction in the snow, but they aren't exactly great at stopping in the slippery stuff, haha.

Also, what sort of tire wear were you getting? Inner or outer?

Cool. I'll check them out.

Inner on the rear wheels, and outer on the front wheels, which is consistent with the camber.

Ah. In that case, remove some negative camber on the rear and add some more negative camber on the front.

Exactly.

I'm no expert but I will say I really like my continental dw summers. I think they are "extreme contact"
This is based on the fact that my old tires were junk and the two cars owned before the wrx were just cars. So having a tire designed to grip is still foreign and still makes me giddy.
Oh and I think I got them on tirerack.com for just under 400

To keep it on the cheaper end, I'd highly recommend Continental Extreme Contact DWS, General G-Max AS-03, or General Altimax HP

You should be able to find any of these around $100 and have fantastic dry, wet, and snow performance (Conti's being the best).

How's your tread wear been on the Contis? I had the same tire on my S2000 and they wore out ridiculously fast (and no I'm not a hooligan who was doing burnouts at every stop light!).

I had taken the car in for some maintenance before a track day (first since I put the tires on) and holy shit, the tires are pretty much bald! Apart from that, was a great tire with loads of grip.

Damn!
I only had them on about 3 months before switching to winters so they seem fine to me at the moment but this summer will be a good test
